Three Simple Ways to Make Moving Day Easier for Your Removalists

Blog

Moving day can be stressful for everyone involved, and hiring professional removalists is the best way to make it go more smoothly. By taking a few simple steps to make moving day easier for your hired movers, you can ensure the whole day goes well and everyone can work quickly and efficiently.

Make Sure They Have All the Right Information

The best thing you can do to make moving day a positive experience for your removalists is to provide them with all the right information in advance. Make sure they know your old and new addresses, when and where to turn up and what they do and don't need to do. If any items are staying in your old home, ensure that you clearly label them so your movers don't waste any time. You should also label each box clearly with what's inside it and which room it's going into at your new home — and if you've got multiple bedrooms, give your movers a tour and let them know which one's which. If there's anything about either your old or new home that movers need to know, such as narrow doors that mean they'll have to disassemble furniture, let them know in advance.

Take Responsibility for Fragile Items

Breaking someone's expensive glass vase or dropping a family heirloom is a mover's worst nightmare, but there are steps you can take to save them (and you) this type of stress. Make sure that every box with fragile items is very clearly labelled as such. You should also ensure that every fragile item is properly wrapped. Wrap glass or china items in bubble wrap, before encasing them in a cardboard sleeve. If you have items that are particularly fragile or items you don't want to risk losing, you might want to take them in the car with you, rather than put them in the moving van. This will take the pressure off your movers and set your mind at ease on your moving day.

Allow Them to Work Efficiently

One of the best things you can do for your removalists is simply to let them work without interruption. Remember that moving people's possessions is their full-time job, and they know the best way to lift a sofa or move a bookcase. If you really want to help, ask if there's anything you can do — but otherwise, focus on unpacking at your new home rather than moving things. However, staying nearby is useful in case your movers have questions — and a drink or snack is likely to be welcome.

If you ensure that your movers know everything they need to know, take responsibility for your fragile and precious items and allow them to work efficiently on the day, you can make your move a pleasant and easy experience for everyone.

When you are ready to move, contact a local removalist.

How to Store Vintage Clothes

Hey! Welcome to my blog. I'm Victoria and I run an online vintage clothing store. It started out as a pretty small thing that I just did at weekends but as the business grew so did the amount of stock I was buying to sell. At first, I was just using my mom's garage to store boxes of things but soon my dad started to complain. Eventually, I decided to hire a storage unit. I asked my uncle who has his own self-storage unit for advice and he was able to make sure I got a great deal. I hope you enjoy my blog!
